What is Oxiplex/SP® by FzioMed

Oxiplex/SP® by FzioMed is the world’s most widely used adhesion barrier gel after spinal decompression and other types of spinal surgery. The gel is available under the trade names Oxiplex®, Oxiplex/SP® Gel, Interpose® and MediShield ™.

The liquid gel is supplied as a sterile product in a 3-ml injection syringe with a flexible applicator. The gel is applied to sites of tissue damage in the epidural space and acts as a temporary mechanical barrier that separates this tissue from adjacent tissue surfaces.

When to use Oxiplex/SP® by FzioMed

The adhesion barrier gel is applied during spinal surgery, such as lumbar laminectomy or laminotomy. Application is simple and takes just a few seconds. The gel covers and isolates nerve fibres and provides a protective physical barrier that can reduce the formation of epidural fibrosis (adhesions) and limit the exposure of nerves to biochemically irritant substances that are produced during the operation and can cause pain.
