What is Oxiplex/AP® by FzioMed

Oxiplex/AP® is a clear, liquid, single-use gel. The gel acts as a temporary, absorbable mechanical barrier that separates surgically traumatised tissue surfaces from each other in the peritoneal cavity, where adhesions could form.

Oxiplex/AP® is made from a unique formula of FzioMed’s patented biomaterial. It is supplied ready for use in 2.20 ml syringes with a sterile applicator.

When to use Oxiplex/AP® by FzioMed

The peritoneum is a membrane that coats the abdominal cavity and covers most abdominal organs. Trauma of the peritoneum during abdominal surgery can result in tissue-like strips that connect surfaces which are normally separated. These adhesions are the most common post-surgical complication in open and laparoscopic surgery. Many women have to deal with adhesions following major gynaecological surgery, and some can develop clinical complications such as intestinal obstruction, infertility, chronic pelvic pain and intraoperative complications.

The use of mechanical barriers such as Oxiplex/AP® can reduce adhesions by keeping the traumatised tissues separate during the healing period.
